Who is responsible

Word Rain is operated by DM Projects. For privacy questions or requests about your information, email support@dm-projects.dev, use our contact form, or open Feedback & Support in the app. You do not need an email-and-password account to play.

At a glance

Word Rain saves your progress and preferences on your device. Online features also send information to our game backend: your player identifier and diver name, leaderboard results, Daily Challenge activity, and records used to validate purchases and deliver rewards. The app uses Google AdMob for advertising, RevenueCat and the relevant app store for purchases, PostHog for usage analytics, and Sentry for diagnostics. Feedback & Support opens our DM HQ portal.

Analytics operates automatically in configured app versions. There is currently no separate analytics consent prompt or in-app opt-out switch. Advertising privacy choices and this website's analytics choice do not turn off app analytics. We do not enable screen recordings or session replay in Word Rain.

Progress and settings on your device

The app stores levels, stars, scores, statistics, achievements, items, pearls, themes, language and audio preferences locally so you can continue playing. It also stores pending results and reward or purchase records needed to complete an interrupted operation. A randomly generated game installation identifier and access secret are held in secure device storage. These authenticate that installation to our online services without asking for your real name.

Your operating system may include eligible app data in device backups, depending on its settings. Removing the app normally removes local app storage, but may leave backups, secure keychain entries, store purchase history and information already sent to our service providers. Local storage is not a promise that every game result stays only on your device.

Online game features and rankings: Convex

Our game backend uses Convex. It receives the game installation identifier, authentication information, your generated or chosen diver name, and submitted results such as game mode, dictionary language, score, depth, result time and run identifier. We use this information to operate rankings and Daily Challenges, check submissions, prevent duplicate rewards and keep purchase grants consistent. The backend stores a hash of the installation secret rather than the original secret.

Your diver name and ranking result can be visible to other players. Choose a name you are comfortable making public and avoid personal contact details. Changing your name does not delete previous server records. Your complete local save is not automatically backed up as an online game account. Word Rain does not currently offer an account-settings screen that deletes all server-side records; contact us to request access, correction or deletion.

Advertising and your choices: Google AdMob

Word Rain uses Google AdMob for interstitial advertisements and optional rewarded videos. The advertising service may process your IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and advertising identifiers, app and operating-system information, ad views and interactions, and technical diagnostics. These are used to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud and support advertising services. The information available to Google and participating advertising partners depends on your choices, device permissions and the ad request.

Google's consent service checks the applicable privacy status and presents advertising choices where its configured requirements apply. When privacy options are available, use Privacy settings in the app's Settings screen to review or change them. On iOS, Apple's tracking permission is a separate system choice; you can change it in your device settings. Android also provides advertising-identifier controls. Declining tracking or personalised advertising does not necessarily prevent all ad requests or all processing needed to show an ad.

The Remove ads purchase removes interstitial advertising. Rewarded videos remain voluntary and available when you choose to watch one for an in-game benefit. Removing ads does not turn off PostHog analytics, Sentry diagnostics or the services needed for purchases and online play. If the expected advertising privacy controls are unavailable, contact us through the channels above.

Purchases: RevenueCat, Apple and Google

Purchases such as pearl packs, Remove ads and available offers are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play. We use RevenueCat to retrieve products, check purchase status and restore eligible purchases. RevenueCat receives the game installation identifier as its app-user identifier, product identifiers, purchase history, transaction or purchase-token information, entitlement status and technical app information. It can connect when the app checks purchase access, even if you have not just made a purchase.

Our backend verifies purchases and retains transaction and grant records to deliver what you bought, avoid duplicate credits and handle eligible restorations. Store notifications help keep purchase information current. Payment details such as your full card number are handled by your store or payment provider; they are not entered into Word Rain or received by DM Projects through the app. Spending already-owned pearls on items is recorded as an in-game transaction and does not itself charge your payment method.

Usage analytics: PostHog

We use PostHog to understand how Word Rain is used and improve its difficulty, reliability and features. App events can include game starts and results, mode, level or world, dictionary language, score, duration, word and typo counts, combo, completion or failure, items used, progression, rewards, advertising and purchase interactions. If an experiment is enabled, its assigned variant and exposure may also be recorded. Our game analytics events contain gameplay measurements, not the text of each letter you type or the content of support messages.

Events can include a persistent pseudonymous analytics identifier and technical context such as app version, operating system, device model, language, screen dimensions and event time. This lets events from the same installation be associated without asking for your name; it does not make the information necessarily anonymous. Word Rain uses PostHog's European ingestion service. Network requests involve your IP address, which may be used for approximate location according to the project's configuration. The app does not request GPS access for analytics.

Analytics is separate from advertising consent and has no current in-app opt-out. We do not enable PostHog session replay. See PostHog's privacy notice for information about the provider.

Crash reports and performance: Sentry

We use Sentry to diagnose crashes, failures, slow starts and performance problems. Reports may contain error messages, stack traces, app and operating-system versions, device information, events preceding an error and sampled performance measurements. Test versions may also report limited technical advertising-consent status to investigate a missing or failing privacy form.

Word Rain disables Sentry's default personally identifiable information option, screenshots and view-hierarchy attachments. Support credentials and private support links are filtered out of error reports, breadcrumbs and performance reports. These safeguards reduce the data sent; they do not mean that all diagnostic information is anonymous. Receiving infrastructure also handles network information such as an IP address. Feedback, support and feature suggestions

Opening Feedback & Support connects to DM HQ, our hosted support portal. The app creates a separate random installation identifier and secret in secure device storage. They let you return to your requests without creating an account. The portal receives your selected language, app version and platform, and uses essential access cookies. Opening the portal alone does not submit a support request or send you an email.

We process messages, optional email addresses and images you choose to submit, our replies, ticket status and feature votes to answer requests and manage improvements. Providing an email address allows confirmations and updates to be sent by email. Support conversations and attachments are private; only separately written, moderated feature summaries and aggregate vote counts appear on the ideas board. Do not include information in an attachment that you do not want to share with support.

DM HQ uses Vercel for hosting and Convex in EU West (Ireland) for its database and file storage. Resend handles incoming and outgoing support email. A private ticket link grants access to its conversation, so keep it private. Website-form requests are also covered by our website privacy information. Updates and store reviews

Apple and Google deliver the app and operate their store services. Word Rain also uses Expo to check for and download compatible app updates. These requests involve technical information such as platform, app runtime, update channel, installed update and IP address. See Expo's privacy notice.

Store rating prompts and the Rate Word Rain button use Apple or Google services. The app keeps local records of prompt attempts, including time, app version or campaign and run count, to limit repeated requests. A native prompt does not tell the app whether you submitted a rating. A review you choose to post is handled under the store's rules and may be public. We can receive public store reviews, reviewer display names and store-provided app/version metadata in our review-management tools and respond through the relevant store.

Purposes and legal grounds

We use information to provide the game and requested online features, fulfil and validate purchases, answer support requests, deliver advertising, protect services, diagnose problems and understand product usage. Where the GDPR applies, processing necessary to fulfil a purchase or a service you request may be based on performance of that contract. Proportionate security, fraud prevention and reliability work may be based on legitimate interests. Records required by law may be retained to meet legal obligations. Where a use relies on consent, that consent can be withdrawn through the applicable control or by contacting us.

Advertising choices are described separately above. Product analytics starts automatically in the current app and has no separate consent switch. Reading this notice or continuing to use Word Rain does not, by itself, constitute consent. Where applicable law requires consent for a particular use of information or access to device storage, this notice does not replace that requirement.

Service providers and international processing

The providers identified above receive information to deliver their services. Their roles and handling depend on the service, your choices and the applicable agreement. We may also disclose information where required by law, to address fraud or security incidents, or to protect legal rights. Your public diver name and ranking result, public store reviews and moderated feature summaries have the visibility described in their respective sections.

European hosting or ingestion for a particular service does not mean that all providers, support operations or subprocessors process information exclusively in the European Economic Area. Information may be processed in other countries, including the United States. Processing locations and any applicable transfer safeguards depend on the relevant service and agreement. Contact us for information about a particular data flow. The linked provider notices also describe their own practices; this notice does not replace Apple or Google's independent store and operating-system notices.

How long information remains stored

Local progress and preferences remain until replaced, removed through available app functions or removed with the app's storage, subject to the backup and secure-storage behaviour described above. Online player, ranking, Daily Challenge, submission and reward records support ongoing online features and protection against duplicate or invalid claims. There is currently no app-wide automatic deletion period for these server records.

Support conversations and attached images remain in DM HQ until removed; there is currently no automatic conversation deletion period. Abandoned staged images that were not attached to a submitted message are removed after 24 hours. Email copies are also subject to the email provider's retention arrangements.

Analytics, diagnostic, advertising and purchase records are subject to the relevant service's settings and retention arrangements. The purposes that determine retention include resolving support requests, investigating failures, maintaining rankings, restoring eligible purchases, preventing duplicate grants, resolving disputes and meeting legal obligations. We do not apply a single fixed retention period to all of these categories. Uninstalling Word Rain does not automatically erase information already held by us or our providers. Contact us to ask about retention or request deletion of records associated with you.

Your choices and rights

You can choose your diver name, whether to make purchases, watch an offered rewarded video, post a store review, or contact support. Email addresses and image attachments are optional in the app support portal. You can manage available advertising choices in the app and your device's tracking, advertising-identifier and backup settings separately. There is currently no in-app analytics opt-out; changing website cookies, removing ads or contacting us does not automatically stop analytics events from an installed copy of the app.

Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict its processing, receive a portable copy, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. You may complain to the data-protection authority where you live, work or believe an infringement occurred.

Send requests to support@dm-projects.dev, through our contact form, or through in-app support. Explain which information the request concerns. We may need proportionate information to locate the records and verify your entitlement to them; a name alone may not identify a pseudonymous installation. Do not send passwords, installation secrets, full payment details or private ticket links through public channels.

Children and shared devices

Word Rain does not ask for a date of birth or verify a player's age. A child-friendly word bank or a store content rating does not mean that no personal information is processed or establish whether a child can legally consent to a particular use of information. Parents or guardians can contact us about information a child may have submitted or to request its deletion. On shared devices, local progress and access to that installation's support history may remain available to other people using the same device.

Changes to this policy

This notice covers Word Rain 2.0 for iOS and Android. Older releases may use different features and services. We update this page when data handling changes and show the revision date above. Material changes may require additional notice or choices in the app. This policy is provided in English; selecting another app or support language does not translate or change it.
